WERU Windows

Hertfordshire

Project – Hertfordshire

This was a large scale renovation/rebuild of a traditional New England style property, with large glass panes used to create an element of contemporary architectural design.

The Weru Group products used in this project were a mixture of AfinoTec, Atris and Unilux. This allowed the homeowner to achieve their desired design and aesthetics, whilst maintaining excellent energy efficiency from our high performance triple glazing

Location

With the project located in Hertfordshire, our install team travelled South to rendezvous with the delivery truck from Germany. The property is located on a private lane, with limited access for vehicles. This made unloading tricky but the trucks had a Moffat lift which managed to transport the very heavy frames from the main road. Also the 5m Patio Doors were transported on trolleys.

RAL Accredited Installation

This project was one of our first installations complying with the latest RAL airtight installation standards.  Weru are to our knowledge the only glazing installer in the UK currently offering RAL accredited certified standards. This increases the thermal performance of the property.

Using specialist air tight tapes and perimeter seals from Tremco Illbruck, ensures severe weather tightness but also breathable voids to eliminate any problems with moisture and the timber frame structure. High thermal and acoustic performance is also assured.

Unilux Timber Aluminium Windows

The front aspect of the property used Unilux timber aluminium triple glazed windows from the LivingLine range. These Unilux windows are manufactured in Germany and constructed from engineered timber with outer faced with maintenance free aluminium.

Unilux forms part of the Weru Group and fully manufactures their glazing units in their factory in Germany. The Unilux timber-aluminium windows were the perfect choice for this project, complementing the wooden cladding and provides a slimline window profile, whilst providing the convenience of tilt and turn sash action.

The Unilux units have bi-coloured frames with the exterior frames in anthracite grey directly contrasting the white interior finish. This technique allows the homeowner to create a light and bright interior, whilst achieving the desired kerb appeal by using on-trend grey exterior frames.

Weru Patio Doors

The homeowner chose Weru products for the rear of the property, which include wide span 5m lift & slide panoramic doors on the ground floor, in addition to the tilt & turn balcony doors used for the first floor Juliette balconies. With spectacular landscaping, the property benefits from uninterrupted views of the beautiful gardens, thanks to the large wide span Patios. Even larger doors can be made thanks to the use of the special GFP FiproRau carbon composite profiles.

Although extremely strong and hard-wearing, the doors slide open with almost no effort due to the counter balanced lift slide action.  The unique multi-chambered technology within the doors delivers superb Low U- Values down to 0.68Wmk2, The doors can be locked at any position and offer high security to DIN 18103 and Sound Proofing as high as 48Db.  The KlimaTherm Triple Glazed units provide the homeowner a comfortable living space in both in high summer (even south facing) and the cooler winter months.

The Weru Juliette balcony doors are also triple glazed and triple sealed with tilt and turn action, allowing secure ventilation options for added comfort. Anthracite grey was also the colour choice for the exterior of the rear frames, again coupled with white internal frames, to blend in with the interior design.

Atris Aluminium Entrance Door

The bespoke entrance door for this property was chosen from the Weru Atris-life range of aluminium entrance doors. The door benefits from AutoLock security, which engages the multi-point locking system upon closure. Additionally, this door is fitted with a finger scan entry system, allowing the homeowner key-less entry to the property. The biometric system can securely store up to 99 unique user finger prints at any one time, the perfect solution for a busy, modern family home. The powder-coated aluminium allows the Atris door to be designed using any RAL colour option. The homeowner chose anthracite grey, in keeping with the colour way for the rest of the exterior.
