Project: Kirkcudbright, Dumfries
Achieving a beautiful extension with our Accent bifolding patio doors
This project in the beautiful area of Dumfries in Scotland is typical of new build and extension projects that we regularly undertake. The timber framed extension uses our Weru 5-pane bi folding door which allows maximum amount of light into the room. We use our Acento system for our bi folds because of the slim profile which allows a seamless design between indoor and outdoor living as well as improving the U value increasingly. Our Acento system features sound insulation of up to 44db, offers high security up to WK2 (German Security Standards) and has a weather rating of up to class 9A in accordance with DIN EN 12208. One of the main benefits of our Acento bi folding patio doors are that there are numerous configurations available to suit every project. This project displays a 5-pane bi fold which has 1 traffic door on the left hand side which allows that one pane to be used as a conventional back door with a handle outside to allow access. This allows the homeowner to use their bi folds without opening the entire patio door which is incredibly helpful if the weather isn’t brilliant. On the other two walls of this extension, we installed a total of 6 windows in our Afino Tec system fitted with solar powered integral blinds. Again, our Afino Tec system boasts an incredibly low U value for energy efficiency which allows us to reach that sound insulation of up to 44db. The triple glazing we selected for this project has superb thermal properties which reduces solar heat gain. In short, it keeps the home warm in the winter and cool in the summer. We find that this feature is ideal for extensions where a lot of glass is being used.
