WERU Windows

Bodmin, Cornwall

Project: Bodmin, Cornwall

This project uses Weru Afino-tec and Acento sytems, alongside the Weru Avida bespoke entrance door with finger scan entry system, to give this cottage renovation a contemporary feel.

Location

This project is a renovation of a traditional Cornish cottage, operating as a bed and breakfast. Located in the stunning region of Bodmin, Cornwall, this cottage is situated in an extremely exposed position, directly on the South West coastline. The Afino-tec system used for the replacement windows on this project due to its severe weather rated high performance triple glazing.

Avida Entrance Door

The front entrance of the property is fitted with a bespoke Weru Avida entrance door. The entrance door is finished in quartz grey, complementing the traditional stone & slate construction perfectly. In addition to the quad glazing panels, the Avida door is fitted with a finger scan entry system, using bio-metric technology, with storage for up to 99 unique finger prints.  This entry system is the perfect solution for this busy little bed & breakfast, allowing guests key-less access to the property and avoids the risk of misplaced keys!

Afino-Tec Window System

Weru’s Afino-tec system was used for the windows on this project. These triple glazed and triple sealed Afino-tec windows are fitted with Siegenia Marine hardware, as standard. The hard-wearing material used to manufacture these windows is a carbon fibre-like material, which is colourfast and extremely low maintenance. With tilt & turn action for secure ventilation, the inward opening sash also allows for easy cleaning. The quartz grey finish gives this cottage the desired kerb appeal in the latest colour trend. The high performance of the Afino-tec window, provides excellent thermal efficiency with ultra low U-values of 0.96Wm2k. The acoustic performance also rates at an impressive 37 dB, which will assist the guests at this bed & breakfast to get a quiet and peaceful night sleep.

Acento Bi-folding Door

The bespoke bi-folding door used for this project is from Weru’s Acento range and has a slim 120mm profile, which allows more light in through the larger proportions of glass. This aluminium bi-fold system is strong, yet lightweight, with a flush threshold allowing easy access into the garden. With a weather rating up to class 9A, these bi-folding patio doors  protect from the harsh winter elements, yet allow the homeowner to open up the space in summer. The perfect solution for this charming cottage.

Client Testimonial

This installation is phase one of the renovations being undertaken on this property. The client is thrilled with the progress so far and looks forward to phase two commencing, following the busy summer tourist season. Our client stated the following about their experience with Weru:

“Nearly 30 years ago we had Weru double glazed windows fitted at our previous house in the East Midlands & were so pleased with them that Weru was our obvious choice when we needed to renew the windows & doors in our current home, a cottage in Cornwall.

Weru technology has certainly moved on a pace since the 1990’s & we were amazed at the current design choices when we visited the Blackpool showroom.

We are delighted with the quality, stylish look & faultless finish of our triple glazed units. Darren & Harry worked quickly & efficiently with very little disturbance to our daily routine. They left no mess behind & cleared up as they went along. A very professional installation all round. We will definitely be recommending them.

Phase 1, the Annex, is the first part to be completed & the quartz grey colour compliments the Cornish stone, granite & slate of the building perfectly. Our builder really admires the craftsmanship, in-fact we are getting plenty of positive comments from friends & visitors.

The fingerprint recognition was easy to master (with Harry’s patient tuition) on the main door & the bi-fold doors at the back of the property enable us to really enjoy the patio & garden now by bringing the outside in. This has been a real bonus during the recent hot spell.

We are certainly looking forward to having Phase 2 completed later this year. This will be in the older part of the property. The main cottage dates back to pre 1840 & is currently used for our B&B guests so we will definitely be bringing it into the 21st century with new Weru German technology…….can’t wait!”
