Project: The Stables – Pembrokeshire, Wales
This project includes Weru Afino-Tec Triple Glazed Lift & Slide Patio Door in Anthracite Grey.
The Stables is a traditional Welsh stable which has been restored to an exceptional standard. Traditional features of the existing property are seamlessly blended with modern architecture, to create a bespoke living space.
Location
Located in the picturesque Pembrokeshire region of West Wales, The Stables is a short drive from the stunning Cardigan Bay on the Welsh coast. This property was the ideal project to install our Weru panoramic doors – allowing the owners to make the most of fantastic scenery.
Lift & Slide Patio Door System
The rear of the property had a large 8 Metre aperture to accept the Weru Afino-tec Lift & Slide door system. This wide span system is recognised as a market leader in patio glazing solutions, particularly for apertures of this size. The Afino-tec triple glazed system benefits from being lightweight yet extremely strong, allowing for larger units to be manufactured in the Weru factory in Germany.
The high performance system is made from hard wearing, colourfast, GFP FiproRau a carbon composite material. By comparison to Aluminum this also gives excellent longevity to the product whilst providing superb overall U-values as low as 0.79 Wmk2. The Weru triple glazing range ensures minimal heat loss (centre pane down to 0.4Wmk2) with excellent summer cooling plus maximum acoustic performance to 42Db.
The unique multi chambered technology within the Weru Lift & Slide system stabilises the triple glazed sashes, allowing the door to slide open with absolute minimal effort, even on huge panes such as this. The door can be locked in position anywhere along the flush track, allowing secure ventilation options.
A further feature of this system is the increased comfort provided by outstanding air tightness with peripheral sash gaskets, special drop- down gaskets and seals on the centre closing profiles – effectively keeping out driving rain when the door is closed (Class 9A weather rating).
From a design aspect the flush profiles provide artistic lines, whilst allowing increased light into the property. Flush threshold installation as shown in this project, adds to the contemporary design, whilst allowing seamless access from home to garden.
Colour Trend
There has been a definite trend in recent years, with grey hues being preferred over other colour options. Of all the grey choices available, anthracite grey has become the go-to colour for most modern projects, such as this Lift & Slide patio door used on The Stables.
The addition of wood cladding helps to contrast the dark tone of the Afino-tec window frame, giving a contemporary feel to the design. The Lift & Slide Afino-tec system is available in a very wide range of colour options to compliment any property’s unique design elements.
