Location
This is a new build project with a high emphasis on contemporary architectural design, finished to an exceptional standard. Located in the sought after region of Cumbria near the Lake District National Park, this new build property is situated in the market village of Ulverston. The Weru Afino-tec system was chosen for this project, specifically due to the exposed coastal location. Weru Afino-tec is a severe weather rated triple glazed system. The result is ultra-low maintenance yet aesthetically very pleasing to the eye.
Afino-Tec Triple Glazed Door Systems
The front of the property displays an impressive 6 metre storey height Atrium entrance featuring a bespoke Weru Atris Sedor, with quad glazed feature panel (Picture 1). The aluminium entrance door is fitted with finger scan entry system, using bio-metric technology to allow key-less access to the property . The impressive entrance is combined along with Afino-tec upper frames installed as a structural curtain wall detail.
The rear of the property displays a stunning apex feature in Afino-tec in a contemporary slate grey finish (Picture 2). The first floor bedroom benefits from Weru tilt & turn balcony doors, which are the ideal bedroom balcony solution, with the tilt function allowing for safe night time ventilation.
The ground floor has been installed with our market leading Weru Afino-tec lift & slide patio doors, with excellent ultra-low U-values, ensuring optimum thermal efficiency. They provide seamless access from house to patio including the option of flush threshold.
The utility door (Picture 3) also benefits from the Afino-tec system, with KlimaTherm Secur laminated triple glazing, allowing additional light into the room. The obscure glass panel maintains privacy. The door is also finished in the same slate grey hue as the rest of project, allowing the modern design to be consistent throughout the property.
Afino-tec Window Systems
A bespoke sun lounge has been installed on the the side of the property, allowing the homeowner to make the most of the beautiful landscaped gardens (Pictures 4 & 5). Installing a sun lounge constructed from glass requires specialist glazing, which will keep the homeowner warm in winter, yet cool in the warmer months.
Weru’s Afino-tec system was used for this project due to its high performance passive solar gain technology. Additionally, the ultra-strong GFP FiproRau material used for the window frames is a carbon fibre-like material which allows larger single panes to be produced, providing the homeowner a picture perfect view.
This client had surface mounted blinds retro installed, which work extremely well with tilt & turn windows, offering a neat solution. The blinds were sourced by Gemma Packham Interiors.
The kitchen window (Picture 8) has been designed from the Afino-tec range, triple glazed with handles fitted at worktop height to provide extra comfort and ease of operation for the homeowner. Again, this has a tilt & turn action along with an inward opening sash, allowing secure ventilation.
The Afino-tec system is the perfect window solution for dormers (picture 10), with twin full inward opening sashes. Similar to mini French windows, this solution provides a full fresh air aperture when opened, with the extra benefit of an easy to clean function. Additionally, this window gives unrestricted views with the frame having a very slim centre overlap mullion, of just 113mm.
The front elevation (Picture 9) displays the benefits of choosing the Afino-tec carbon composite solution, over other options such as aluminium frame windows. The Weru Afino-tec range provides ultra low U-values in addition to strong German build quality, using colourfast materials, with minimum corrosion. This ensures a very low maintenance, high performance solution which will provide the homeowner with peace of mind, even in vulnerable coastal locations, such as this Cumbria project.
